2013 Subaru Forester X Limited

Diagnosing the Subaru Forester

Posted on 2021-04-182021-04-18

On the non-Beetle front, my daily driver, the 2013 Subaru Forester X Limited of Love™ needs some up drivetrain and steering work.

My live-in personal ASE Certified (aka my son) helped me confirm some issues and I now have plan for the daily.

The front passenger axle’s outer CV joint has definitely gone wonky but I already knew that.

He wants me to replace the driver side lower ball joint as well.

I figure I’ll do both axles (for wear/symmetries sake) and the ball joint then get a full alignment done. A few months later when I have enough saved up I’ll replace the 4 tires as well.

I’d love to sell the car, but it is paid off so I may as well keep driving it until it becomes financially questionable in the scheme of vehicle life.
