Engine – Day 14
So during my unsuccessful attempt to get the crank gear I ended up damaging the new one I have bought from AA Performance Products.
I pulled off Murbella’s original timing gear from her original crank but it appears worn and I’m hesitant to use it.
I ended buy getting a new one from Moore Parts, a vendor I have not used before but their free shipping worked with the price of the part so it worked out out. (I think they increase the price of some parts to absorb the shipping costs across the inventory they sell. Just my opinion based on my looking up the parts.
The new crank gear that arrived appears to be an EMPI product, and when I opened it I noticed the concave cut on the inner facing side (inner to the bearing) is drastically different than the one from AA Performance, so obviously a different manufacturer. The thing is, I pulled out the original Murbella one and it looks far closer to the AA Performance one than the EMPI ones does.
I’ve been going through my photo archives but I haven’t found a comparis pic for the gear I got from SCAT that is on the 2019 New Build crank. (That one went on so easy!)
I sent out some feelers to my neighbors looking for a single electric stove burner to try that method for heating it up instead of the boil in oil and other methods that failed with the first gear.
