Engine – Day 4
Crankshaft
The crankshaft had the last of the cosmoline removed, as well as the oil passages cleaned and brushed out.
I went over everything about 4 times and I was seeing nothing coming off on the paper towels.
Now I am not sure if I’ll get to assembling the crank today or not so I wanted to make sure the metal is protected and rubbed it all down with a thin sheen of motor oil.
Since I need to heat up the timing gear and the distributor gear, this may definitely need to wait as I’m running out of propane and am not really setup up to heat the gears up any other way right now.
Connecting Rods
For this build I’m using basic standard Silverline Rod bearings.
The rods are the new forged rods.
I previously balanced these but today I did a deep clean to remove any remaining debris. I installed the bearings and they are now done, waiting to get installed on to the crankshaft.
