So I received notification today from AA Performance Products that Murbella’s new engine case is getting ready to ship.
That sent me down a path that I probably should have not gone down, but I was thinking… should I try painting a new case?
Now I’ve seen a lot of painted cases, and I’ve read the Bob Hoover entry on Crankcase Painting.
As is my typical method, I’ll look and research as much as I can and then throw out a question or two to the Facebook groups, usually the VW AIRCOOLED tech help group.
Of course, as with most questions, there is never a consensus answer. That of course applies to this too.
There are people that say they paint all there cases. There are people that say they never paint their cases.
You’d think after all these decades there would be a definitive set of use cases in which painting a case my be recommended and others when not.
I sure as hell would love to paint one of my cases (AR case) as it was previously painted ages ago but looks like shit now.
I think I’ll pass on painting the new case this time. Maybe. I don’t know.
