While I had many responses back from both large and small service vendors on the injectors, I decided to go with someone who does it part-time now but based on the information, and his experience, I think he’ll be far more appropriate for older technology injectors than some of the more vendors that deal with racing and more modern style FI parts.
Everything will be packaged up and sent to Cruzin Performance up in Michigan.
It’ll be about $120 total plus shipping. That includes full testing of each injector, cleaning, and also the replacement of the hoses that I cannot do myself.
He’s also going to see if he can clean that 5th cold start valve injector, though according to his email back “The problem with those injectors is that because they aren’t activated often, many times they are corroded internally and cleaning them will not fix them. The only way to know is to try. I don’t charge for testing and cleaning the cold start injector if it’s sent in with the regular injectors.”
Some of these vendors would do the main 5 but not even look at the cold start valve. Several said they won’t risk working on something so old.
So… I feel best going with him even through he’s semi-retired from the sounds of it. There’s no replacement for experience… especially with classic car parts!
