I’ve been back and forth over Eastwood products versus other products in terms of what I wanted to use on Murbella’s rear chassis/suspension parts and I’ve decided I’m going with KBS Coatings’ products.
From a TCO perspective, I think the costs of their products are in the ballpark where I need to be, and Summit Racing up north carries them and I can get things shipped free from there.
After I manually remove that undercoating and clean up the parts, I’ve decided to follow the following basic process:
- Manually clean, wire brush, degrease, etc. all of the parts.
- Use the KBS Frame Coater Kit to prep and seal the parts. (Basically what I did with the POR15 for the front suspension.)
- Finish with a coat of KBS Blacktop Chassis Paint in a Satin finish.
The RustSeal product is self-leveling when using a brush and sounds pretty much like the POR15 product. (The entire product line from KBS seems very similar in terms of products and process.)
The BlackTop product appears to suffer from streaking when painted with a brush, so I’m going to go with the aerosol versions to top it all off.
