I had not planned to attend but the weather was nice, and my son told me he was going to help a friend sell stuff at the swap meet so I headed out Volksfest 29.
It was about as good of a show as one can get for central Ohio.
It has been held at the same location for many years so each show seems to kind of look the same, regardless of who shows there cars. That is probably the only major negative I have with it.
I’ve only ever gone to 5 of them, and they were all held in the same location and all tend to blend together.
As usual, not a whole lot of on the Super front other than 70’s verts.
There were 2 guys from Cincinnati that brought 2 of the 3 German Look styles… or what I suppose could fall into that category better than the others.
The car that blew me away was a German Look 1300 standard.
This car is the shit! And has an extreme build of the 2275cc displacement engine that I would eventually like to put into Żuczek post-restoration.
I didn’t get a chance to talk to the owner, but the car is from the neighborhood just north of hear and I would really like to track him down and talk about the car in detail, especially his FI choice.
He went for the Porsch-style cooling fan shroud, but this engine looks like a beast.
I don’t want a beast per se, but I do want the closest higher-power reliable FI engine I can buy (or build) for Ż when all is said and done.
