So I know what I want to do on the cars for 2019, and I know some of the general order of things that happen. I mean, I’m a logistics guy and a project manager so I often do this day in and day out at work and it is almost impossibly not to apply it with the car stuff. (Alas, I fail at organization on other fronts of my life.)
So…
- The Garage of Love™
- Finish organizing all my tools and parts.
- Get all the bins and crap in the attic space cleared out. (Or at the very least combine them all to the west side only.)
- Finish installing the hangers up on the beams so I can hang pieces/parts/larger tools and such from them.
- Make the table saw disappear somewhere else.
- Żuczek B.
- Get fuel pump or carb problem resolved so he can be drivable.
- I Am Curious (Yellow)
- Finish all brake work.
- Finish fixing speedo/odometer.
- Murbella
- Drop her rack and pinion and realign the splines properly
- Figure out what may be up with her steering column wiring.
- The Garage of Love™
- Build or buy dolley (foldable if possible. if not, easy to dissassemble)
- Project – AH Engine
- Finish engine rebuild and test outside of car
- Żuczek B.
- Drop AE Engine.
- Clean AE Engine and refresh hoses/lines if needed.
- Check clutch.
- Install AH engine and drive until broken in.
- I Am Curious (Yellow)
- Assess transaxle to determine if will be kept for Żuczek B. (Remove it if necessary.)
- Install AE engine (and 1302 trans if necessary) and drive until broken in.
- Żuczek B.
- If time permits in Autumn/early winter, begin deconstruction and removal of body to dolley.
Obviously, that is more than enough work for the Spring, Summer, and Autumn months. Of course, I still have house and yard work to do not to mention my actual real job that pays me money to even be funding this silliness.
Other than the materials for the dolley, I more or less have everything already on hand to do all the above work. I used the 0% interest card throughout 2018 to accumulate most pieces/parts and tools I would need. Some things may come up such as a new clutch for the AE engine once it goes into the 74, but that’s not much money.
Now if my health holds out, and I can manage to do all of this, I may just consider 1 more major thing before Winter sets and that is the dropping of Murbella’s AJ engine for a top refresh, new seals and FI lines and such, not to mention cleaning her injectors. That could all be done over the winter in the basement even. (That is if I can get the basement fully clean and organized too!) Ugh!
