So I love Super Beetles with slightly flared and widened fenders/wings. I love the way a wider set of slightly lowered tires sits back under them, hugging the ground and generally making the 1303 (and even the 1302’s) seem just that much more robust.
I’ve looked at some of the US vendors and some of them are insanely priced for fiberglass fenders. And there sure are no metal ones out there on the aftermarket.
So I started looking to Europe and of course, Germany, and the ones I like a lot are the CSP products. I have a purchased a few of their products from American retailers before, but nothing as massive as replacement fenders.
Their front fenders are nice, with the headlight space ready to work in, and no top bumper turn signal, which the current plans for Żuczek B. currently eliminate anyway. While they offer a few different sizes of flare, I’m currently thinking along the lines of 4cm but I’m not committed yet. That’s only a little over 1.5″ but I think it is enough for the looking I’m going for.
Now the rears are tail light ready, but unfortunately, neither front nor rears have cut outs for bumpers. Obviously, that gives a lot of leeway to fit different styles, but for an amateur, it always opens up a huge risk of messing up. And with expensive imported fenders there’s no real second chance.
Now this won’t come cheap, likely costing around $900 just for fenders. Fenders that are not complete and will need a lot of finishing work.
But oh… to have those sweet sweet flares that make my panties all moist.
