So in my never-ending quest for VW Type 1 L-Jetronic parts and info, I was shocked to come across an out-of-stock gasket for the 75-79 plenum.
This is one of the gaskets I figured I would have to custom cut and make a replacement for. But at least some time in the recent past at BugCity.com.
The one thing that I realized was that the photo may just be good enough to make a bitmap outline of to size and then print to use as a template. However, I think the image is a bit skewed.
I’m thinking do a sample, and then use that sample print out against the split surface to get any kind of adjustments that maybe skewed.
Then again, once the part is split and cleaned, I suppose I can lay it down on the gasket material and draw the outline and holes. That’ll be enough to then have the general cut-out where I can then just cut the inside.
I dunno. I was just very happy to come across this.
I don’t source from Bugcity. They have a lot of NOS parts and such and quite a lot of valuable used parts but I typically get new parts elsewhere.
But damn, they have quite a lot of the FI parts that I’d like to have 1 extra on in my bins.
I’m thinking that once I get the engine redone and all put back together and running, I may need to seriously look at spending some cash here on backups.
