After receiving some emails from local powder coaters telling me they could not do ceramic high-temp powder coating, I finally got a response from Performance Powder Coating
From the photo I supplied, the say they can media blast, prep, and then ceramic powder coat everything I want done on Murbella’s exhaust system for about $400. Since I’ve never done this before I am not sure if that is good or not.
Given how many powder coaters in town can only do standard coating for non-extreme heat surfaces, I’m thinking that this will be my best bet.
I mean, I’d rather have a single vendor do everything from start to finish. I would have to have vendor A do the blasting then have to cart everything over to vendor B to do specialty coating, if they even do ceramic at all.
Now one of the of the places that could not do it mentioned something about the landlord not letting them. I suppose there’s a different process entailed, perhaps a much hotter furnace/over to cook the ceramic coated parts than the typical 400°F needed for general powder coating. I mean, the whole difference is the temps the coating can take so that probably has to be it.
So. I’m probably going to go with them since I don’t want to keep firing off emails to other vendors.
So. I really need to get that engine dropped soon. I am really hoping this all disassembles without too much stress. I really really do.
