I’m still not having much luck in finding someone in Ohio (or at least sane driving distance from central Ohio) who can repair or perform an entire rebuild of Murbella’s transaxle.
Now her 2nd gear synchro has been bad since I bought her and she occasionally pops out of gear or generally is difficult to go from 1st to 2nd.
But I’m fairly certain the entire thing needs to be disassembled, the synchros should all be replaced, and all new gaskets need to be installed.
Over the past 3 years I’ve continued to notice grease and gear oil dripping. I’ve cleaned it up once but yesterday’s general inspection has confirmed that there’s definitely something going on that requires a lot more work.
I’d really like to avoid having to crate it up and ship it out to some place like Rancho out in California but I’m not seeing any other alternative at the moment. I have the last of my emails out to a few places in Ohio but historically my queries have fallen on deaf ears, even with places/people I’ve been told do this kind of work.
With the engine soon to be out and the axles off to be restored, now’s the time to deal with this but damn if it just isn’t proving to be a problem.
