So I sat for a bit draining as much oil as I could from the sump recesses, then poured some mineral spirits in and with a brush tried to get the engine cleaned up in my bin.
On the whole, while some parts of the interior were very black and oily, the exterior was really where the problems were.
Hell, it was pretty disgusting to just pick up and move the case.
After the initial degreasing, I soaked them for a bit in Simple Green and then hosed them off.
I have to admit there’s something stupidly exciting about taking the case halves to the car wash and using their practically boiling water pressure wash to really get the dirt and grime out.
I soaped them up again and continued pressure cleaning them, turning them over and over under the water, for a solid 5 minutes or so.
Getting them ready to this stage was so much easier this time around than with the other cases since I’m not planning any case mods or full flow remote oil filtering. That added a lot of time and multiple cleanings to deal with the debris build-up from the machining.
