Biding my time while the Jetta GLI gets rebuilt

Posted on 2020-03-282020-03-28

So while I am not confined to work-at-home due to the COVID19 virus quarantine in our state, and even though all of the parts I ordered finally arrived to allow me to being the work on Murbella, my son changed his mind on his blown up Jetta GLI and has decided to rebuild that engine….

Murbella? Add some color to her seat covers?

Posted on 2020-03-13

So from what I can tell, Murbella’s driver seat and rear seat have the original covers on them. However, her passenger seat has had a bit of fraying in the vinyl since before I bought her. When I bought her, her prior owner gave me a new seat cover he had purchased but it never…

Fun with sourcing parts.

Posted on 2020-03-122020-04-06

So I decided to take advantage of 2 stores’ sales to get the bulk of what I need for my 2020 Murbella work. Ultimately I ended up having to source from 4 stores since I wanted a better solution for the future rear brake lines. I got the bulk of my parts from California Import…

Vintage Voltage

Television – Vintage Voltage on MotorTrend OnDemand

Posted on 2020-03-12

So all of a sudden a new program showed up on my MotorTrend OnDemand called Vintage Voltage and seems to be a full broadcast version of the YouTube channel Vintage Voltage Conversions. Let’s just say they couldn’t have made a more perfect show premiere aimed right at me. Well… maybe if it had been a…

So… what’s in store for Żuczek Brzęczyszczykiewicz,

Posted on 2020-03-092020-03-09

So I’ve decided to hold off for now on my plans for Mr. Brzęczyszczykiewicz in terms of making him what I want him to be and instead I’m going to enjoy him as he is for the coming year (and perhaps longer). In a few days I turn 50. And let’s just say I’m not…

S’all about Murbella’s booty in 2020

Posted on 2020-03-082020-03-08

So the majority of my planned work for 2020 is actually on Murbella. With her engine dropped for maintenance and clean-up, it opens up the space and reduces the rear weight. Since this will all be up in the air anyway, it is the perfect time to no only do the rear disc upgrade I’ve…

2020 Work Plans

Posted on 2020-03-05

Now that it has been around 55°F (12.7°C) the past few days… well… at least during the day… the urge to start working outside has hit me and there has to be a few achievable goals for 2020. There’s key work that needs to be completed that was started in 2019 as well as some…

Reference – 70’s Era VW Evap Emissions Canister

Posted on 2020-03-012020-03-01

What is the Air-Cooled VW Evap Emissions System? Starting in the early 70’s, all VW’s were equipped with simple fuel vapor emissions control systems. This system did not deal with any kind of exhaust emissions, but was installed to deal with situations where the fuel in the tank would pressurize and vaporize due to different…
